Crypto Startups — DON’T BLOG THIS WAY🙅♀️
Because it’s not gonna work
Many amazing crypto startups, when trying to develop their online presence, make the same common mistake:
They link their website blog to Medium (HackerNoon or whatever external platform).
Guess what happens here?
They give away their website traffic to Medium. For no reason. 😕
By doing so, they also kill their opportunities of
- using keywords on their website (website blogging is the best way to do it)
- getting backlinks that could be linked out to their website blog posts, and
- growing the website domain authority.
As a result, they get rid of the chance to increase their website visibility to users and rank high on Google.
Medium is definitely happy. But how about you?
Don’t get me wrong, Medium is a nice platform. It’s crypto native and blabla.
The problem here — Medium is NOT YOUR RESOURCE.
Another problem — a SHORT LIFE SPAN of your content there. Just a few days. Then no one is gonna see it.
Your wonderful blog posts will be buried under loads of other Medium articles ABOUT EVERYTHING for EVERYONE.
Ok, Medium’s algorithm can choose your blog post “for further distribution.” Then it can have a longer lifespan. This is what happened to some of my articles too.
But look at the graph below— do you understand the distribution consistency?
I actually don’t.
Seems like sometimes it’s going, and sometimes it’s dead.
How about analytics? Does Medium give you any insights about your audience?
Oh yeah, it does. Here is what my analytics tells me:
“Your readers’ interests are cryptocurrency, blockchain, technology, and programming.”
Wow! What an epiphany! Given that I write ONLY about crypto.
Wrapping it up:
🚫 DON’T use Medium as your primary crypto content house. You will get nothing but a few likes from “crypto enthusiasts,” who are not necessarily your ideal customers.
🟩 USE IT ONLY FOR FUN or REPUBLISHING your WEBSITE blog content to get more exposure.
